Within the scope of our project titled “Green Urbanization Manisa – Pineto 2050” funded by the European Union under the Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (Town Twinning for Green Future) Grant Scheme, in which Manisa Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate is the project owner and Italy Pineto Municipality, Greece Thessaly University and Manisa Development and Development Association are project partners, a Town Twinning visit was made on 25-27 September 2024.
On September 25, 2024, all project stakeholders participated in the first day of the visit to Pineto Municipality. On the first day, the meeting of the delegations, introductions of the institutions, introduction of the project, and the work done locally in the field of climate change were evaluated. Pineto Municipality evaluated their work as a local government and their implementation methods.
Italy Pineto Municipality, funded by the European Union under the Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (Town Twinning for a Green Future) Grant Scheme and Manisa Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate is the project owner, Within the scope of our project titled “Green Urbanization Manisa – Pineto 2050”, in which the University of Thessaly, Greece and Manisa Development and Development Association are project partners, a Green Future City Twinning protocol was signed on 26 September 2024 in Pineto Municipality by the Mayor Alberto Dell’Orletta representing Pineto Municipality and Mr. Erhan GÜNAY, Head of the Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate of Manisa Governorship. Subsequently, Pineto Municipality shared information about their previous SECAP and similar studies for the exchange of good examples. The www.wikiclimate.org web page, Forum page and CarbonAPP software developed for the calculation of carbon emissions of public institutions and local governments were introduced.
Within the scope of our project titled “Green Urbanization Manisa – Pineto 2050” funded by the European Union under the Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (Town Twinning for a Green Future) Grant Scheme, in which Manisa Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate is the project owner and Italy Pineto Municipality, Greece Thessaly University and Manisa Development and Development Association are project partners, on the 3rd day of the visit to Pineto Municipality on 27 September 2024, the pine forest and coastline, which were taken under protection by Pineto Municipality within the scope of the INTERREG program funded by the EU in order not to be affected by the climate change crisis, were visited.
The 7 km long pine forest and a 3 km wide area towards the sea, including the coastline, has been declared a protected area to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Regular activities are carried out in this area every day. In the sea, fishing of certain fish species is banned for the protection of the species and the life cycle.
